I've done the home waxing kits. If you follow the directions exactly they seem to work almost as well as the salon waxing. But, with any waxing, you have to let the hair grow to between 1/4 to 1/2 inch for the wax to adhere to the hair. It's then ripped out by the root.
Because hair grows at different rates, it may not appear to have worked great until you've been doing it for awhile. The ones that got ripped out will stay gone a few weeks, but because others were still growing in, you may have to redo it every couple weeks.
I think the one I'd use was a Nair kit. You have to heat the wax, apply it, apply the strip, the rip in the opposite direction of hair growth. And, YES, it hurts. But not for a long time. Some kits come with a ';soothing'; lotions to use, too. And you may get little 'bumps' for a day or so, too.
Good luck. How well does waxing really work? (not at a salon)?
i've found that DIY waxing kits like NAIR and VEET are really good. they do the job for me perfectly. unfortunately i havent managed to get it right on the bikini line. maybe i'm not doing correctly, but it just wont work as well as it does on the legs. on average it lasted about 2 and a half weeks the first time i did it and then one and a half week every other time i've been doing it.
but i really find that having it done at an aesthetic really helps it last much longer. plus they'll use all sorts of creams on u so it'll hurt less and u wont be filled with blisters afterwards.
