Ladies- Waxing at a Salon? Lots of Q's!!?

Im sooo tired of mowing my lawn every other day.

Is waxing at the salon worth the $$?

How much does it cost?

How long do you stay bald?

Do you get rashes?

What do I ask for?

Is the Brazillian where they leave a runway? Cuz i dont want any fur left behind.

How fuzzy do you have to be before you go? Like a 5:00 shadow, only a little longer?

Anything i can do to ease the pain before i go?

How to find a good salon?

Should i go to a Tanning place, or Hair salon?

Should i ask/look for a specific kind of wax? (Sugar or something?)

Gee, can you tell im nervous? LOL Thanks for the pointers, ladies! And yes, Im a grown adult, just incase you need to know.Ladies- Waxing at a Salon? Lots of Q's!!?
It's worth the money if you go to someone who has been doing it for a while.

Depends on the salon, but don't be a cheapskate about a Brazilian. $50-$100

3 weeks-ish

Sometimes people do, it would be an allergy to the prep, wax or coolant. You shouldn't have any bruising, that's a sign of a bad waxer. You may have some pin point bleeding since it is your first time. That's common and probably won't happen again.

Ask for a full Brazilian or a Sphinx. There are about a hundred names, but just let them know you want all the hair gone.

Yes, in a Brazilian they generally leave a patch behind.

At the longest, 1/4 in. Any longer and you risk breakage. You also don't want it too short because the hairs won't pick up.

Do you know anyone who is professionally waxed? If so, ask them. If not, Citysearch will have reviews by clients. If you live in a major city, Allure magazine probably featured a salon in your area. Or ask the receptionist what her opinion is. Receptionists will usually give you the dirt, all you have to do is ask.

Probably not a tanning place or hair salon, definately no to a nail shop. You'll want to go to a spa and see someone who does thins all day, not someone who does it when the mood strikes. If there are any wax bars in your area, look into them. ALL they do is waxes.

Hard wax. It's gentler and better for sensitive areas. I use it on bikinis, underarms and faces. That said, there are people out there who are amazingly good with soft waxes. Personally I prefer hard waxes both in having it done and doing it. Just ask what kind of wax they use. If they have great reviews, the wax type doesn't really matter.

Take a couple of Midol or ibuprofen an hour before your appointment. They are both painkillers and have an anti-inflammatory.Ladies- Waxing at a Salon? Lots of Q's!!?
it is expensive to get it done. as far as how long it lasts depends on how fast your hair grows. it can last up to 6 weeks. however, when you get it dont you have to have at least a 1/4 inch of hair growth.... it does hurt and you may get a rash (it would just like after you got your eyebrows done).

If i were you I would just go and get your own waxing kit and youll save yourself a lot of money in the long run.... you can get quality salon ones over the internet....

good luck
good questions. I am a male striper and I have to get the wax. as far as rashes go it depends on the person. You wont know how your skin will react till you try it. It last longer than it would if you shaved. and it also gets a little easier every time you do it.
Its even cheaper again if you do it yourself and its not that sore really. I have started epilating and thats even better still, hairs stay away for longer and you just have to pluck the odd stray one out with eyebrow tweezers
I don't know the answers to these questions but I would really like to know too. So anybody that can help please do and does it hurt like hell because that's what has stopped me before.

it depends wot salon u go too and if they're good

it doesn't usually cost that much....but it depends on the salon

no u dont get rashes

jus ask for a leg wax..arm wax...full body wax etc

lol there isnt any way too ease the pain jus be strong and it'll be over before u no it

try asking round in ur local area for the best salon there

go to a hair salon

no u dont need 2 ask for a specific wax...they might use hot wax or cold

lol yep i can :D but u'll be okay...im fourteen and i've dont it before!
I pay $60 plus tip to get a brazillian wax every month, and it is worth every penny. After getting it done I am usually red for a day or two, but then it goes away. When you go there, they should ask how much hair you want to keep/get rid off. If they don't, be sure to speak up and tell them exactly what you want. Your hair should be about a quarter of an inch long--anything shorter may not get picked up by the wax, and anything too long will hurt even more when getting pulled out. So trim anything that is longer than 1/4 inch. To find a good salon I went online and found places that offered the service in my area. I settled on a salon and spa, which I knew would be professional and clean. Your wax will hold up for a few weeks. You will have to get it done once a month, but over time it will hurt less and last longer. Good luck!
waxing is ABSOLUTELY the way to go.

it is definitely worth the money... but i've gotten to the point with my lady that i actually go to her house and it's MUCH cheaper that way. she's got a little room she does it in. lot of them do that on the side for their friends and such.

i paid 50.00 at the salon, like once every 6-8 wks.

stayed completely bald for a good 2 weeks, with some baby hairs coming in after that but not stubbly because they aren't 'cut hairs' yaknow? they're tapered at the end. ew gross sorry.

no rashes, but DEFINITELY exfoliate beforehand and take some advil about 30 min. before (cuts down on redness). at first there might be some irritation but it gets better as you go.

ask for a brazilian if you don't want a landing strip.

they suggest at least the length of a grain of rce.

i think there's a website - salon.com? where they have reviews and such. i did a google search for 'esthetician wax chicago' for mine and came up with a few, then looked for one near my work (but i also went to one that sucked first.. you can generally tell by how clean the place is and all that...) a good test is to go get your eyebrows done first and check things out all incognito-like. *IF they don't use a new popsicle stick thing each time they dip into the wax (unless it's a small individual-sized pot of wax) DO NOT get your bikini wax done there. that's just disgusting.

i would go to a hair salon or spa.

i don't think the specific kind of wax is as important as how good of that kind it is, yaknow? like i'd ask if it's ideal for sensitive skin but coarse hair, they should know what they're doing in that arena though.

i was SO nervous but it really gets so much easier as you go! i went back once and regretted it so much, i had forgotten how UNCOMFORTABLE that stubble crap is.

hope this helps! good luck :-)
